Cowboys.com.au are providing an in-depth positional analysis of the 2025 North Queensland Toyota Cowboys squad. We begin the series this week with the fullback position headlined by Scott Drinkwater.
The players are ranked by their NRL experience with their career numbers of games in brackets next to their name.
Scott Drinkwater (120)
One of the NRL’s most feared attacking threats, Drinkwater is locked into the Cowboys’ No.1 jersey. The 27-year-old finished fifth in Dally M voting in 2024 while leading the competition in line-break assists and ranking second in try assists.
Tom Chester (12)
The Townsville boy unfortunately suffered an ACL injury in early December and is set to miss the 2025 season.
Jaxon Purdue (8)
A star schoolboy half, Purdue spent significant time at fullback during the 2024 pre-season. The 19-year-old lit up his home ground in Mackay playing fullback in his first Cowboys appearance during a trial game against the Broncos in February.
