Cowboys join forces with Run Army

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are thrilled to announce their involvement in next year’s Run Army event, set to return to Townsville on Sunday, 6 April 2025.

The community event was officially launched last week at Jezzine Barracks, where Cowboys General Manager of Football, Micheal Luck joined Commander of the 3rd Brigade, Brigadier McCammon, event sponsors and partnering organisations to mark the occasion.

Now in its fifth year, Run Army promotes health, fitness and wellbeing across Australia, working closely with Northern Queensland Legacy to raise awareness of the vital work they do in supporting families of injured or fallen ADF personnel and veterans.

The important work of frontline and first-responders will also be honoured, with the Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service, Queensland Fire Department, State Emergency Services and Surf Life Saving Queensland signing on as event partners.

Participants will be encouraged to choose who they would like to fundraise for and join in for a 5km or 10km walk or run along the Strand.

With over 2,300 participants running the Cleveland Bay course in 2024, the event provides an opportunity for the Cowboys to reinforce their bond with the military and the people of Townsville.

Our long-standing relationship and connection with the Australian Defence community dates back to our inaugural season where local members of the Australian Army rolled up their sleeves to help repurpose what was then known as Willows Sports Complex into a rugby league stadium.

Today, the mateship is seen in our gruelling pre-season training program and our annual centrepiece in ANZAC Round.

General Manager of Football, Micheal Luck emphasised our commitment to honouring Townsville’s rich military heritage.

“Run Army is a powerful way for us to connect with and support local veterans and families,” said Luck.

“It’s about bringing people together and celebrating the strength of our proud garrison city community.”

The event is open to all abilities, with $5 from every entry going directly to the participants chosen event charity.

Join the Cowboys in showing your appreciation for those who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe.
