In a nostalgic reference to the club’s first season in 1995, the 2025 Alternate Jersey delivers a modern take on the very first pre-season competition jersey design worn by the Cowboys during the 1995 Sevens tournament.
The bold design will be worn intermittently throughout the 2025 season, should there be a clash with the Cowboys Home or Away Jersey.
Symbolic of the daring designs made popular throughout the 90’s era, the predominantly white jersey features horizontal stripes in the club’s traditional blue and grey, broken up by bold yellow, blue and grey diagonal bars. Yellow dashed lines complement each of the stripes, adding to the jersey’s nostalgic feel.
Sitting proudly on the front of the jersey is Cowboys principal partner Toyota, as it has done so since the 2003 season, along with major partners Bravus Mining & Resources, YETI and TAFE Queensland.
In a further tribute to the club’s time in the national competition, each of the Cowboys historical logos are displayed on the upper back of the jersey, and similar to the rest of the 2025 on-field range, a standout feature of the Alternate Jersey is the Cowboys 30th anniversary commemorative logo, honouring the club’s three decades in the north.
For Cowboys CEO Jeff Reibel, the Alternate Jersey is an exciting addition to the club’s anniversary range,
“Similar to our Home & Away Jerseys, it was important for us to continue to honour our foundations, and to be able to bring back the design from the 1995 World Sevens, our club’s first ever on-field appearance, is something special,” he said.
Held across two days in two different stadiums in February, the 1995 World Sevens saw the Cowboys make their competitive on-field debut in a tournament that featured each of the ARL clubs, as well as an array of national teams such as Great Britain and New Zealand alongside non-traditional nations like Morocco and Japan.
Lining up in ‘Group 5’ to take on the likes of Canberra and New Zealand, the Cowboys were led by Cowboys Old Boy No. 30 Jason Martin, captaining a squad that featured nine players who would go on to play for the Cowboys first grade side.
The 2025 Alternate Jerseys are now available to pre-order in men’s, women’s and kids sizes online at www.cowboysteamshop.com.au, and will be available at the Cowboys Team Shop, in-person at 335 Flinders Street, Townsville City from Friday, 15 November.
