The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have kicked off 30th anniversary celebrations, revealing a new commemorative logo, honouring the club’s achievements and legacy over a colourful 30 year history.
Set to be featured across apparel and promotional items throughout the 2025 season, the logo will be proudly worn by the playing squad when they take the field, 30 years after the team was led out by inspirational captain Laurie Spina for the very first time.
Taking inspiration from milestone logos used in other international sports, the iconic Cowboys bullhorn returns to its traditional blue and grey colourway made famous in the club’s inaugural emblem in 1995, while the standout feature is the ’30 years’ text, paying homage to the club’s three decades of representing the North Queensland region on the biggest stage.
Simplifying the colour palette to navy, grey and white harks back to the club’s heritage, whilst the anniversary logo elevates the bullhorns which have become synonymous with the Cowboys.
Unveiling our 30th anniversary logo
For Cowboys CEO Jeff Reibel, the anniversary logo signifies an exciting period for the club.
“With the emergence of our two young Co-Captains for our men’s team, and the growth of our NRLW program as it heads into it’s third year, our Anniversary Logo symbolizes the beginning of an exciting new era for our club, acknowledging our rich heritage in the North, and passionate support from members and fans across the country,” he said.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the Cowboys 30th anniversary, and the many significant milestones that make up our history, the commemorative logo is the first step in our year-long celebration of Cowboys moments. We greatly appreciate our faithful fans, members and partners for their enduring support throughout the years, and look forward to creating new memories in 2025.”
Following a three year build-from-the-bottom campaign, in 1993 the Cowboys, along with the South Queensland Crushers, Western Reds and Auckland Warriors were announced as the newest teams to enter the ARL competition in the 1995 season.
Established to provide a pathway for local North Queensland talent to reach the national stage, the Cowboys inaugural team, led by Ingham’s Laurie Spina, were composed of young, mainly local players and a few seasoned campaigners, fighting hard and showing plenty of North Queensland spirit in a tough initiation to the national competition.
Over the next three decades, the club has continued to proudly represent the North Queensland region, carving out their own legacy, thrilling fans with countless memorable moments, including 12 NRL finals appearances and a historic premiership in the club’s 20th anniversary year. Off the field, the Cowboys have become a cornerstone of the regional economy, immersing themselves in the local community, and delivering programs that play an important role in building a healthy and inclusive North Queensland.
Cowboys fans and members can get their first look at the new apparel featuring the 30th anniversary logo on the 2025 Home & Away jerseys, set to be released on Friday 1 November.
