Cowboys release Holmes

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have released Valentine Holmes from the final year of his contract, effective from the 2025 season.

Holmes has appeared in 93 games, scoring 35 tries and booting 319 goals, for the Cowboys since joining the club prior to the 2020 season.

The 29-year-old, who won Dally M Centre of the Year as a Cowboy in 2022, has produced numerous headline moments during his time at the club, none bigger than the towering two-point field goal to topple Cronulla in extra time in the 2022 finals series.

“Val has made some wonderful contributions to our club in his five seasons as a Cowboy and he remains a critical part of our squad for the remainder of this season,” Cowboys General Manager of Football Micheal Luck said.

“We would like to wish him, Natalia and their family well in their next adventure.”
