XXXX things you need to know: Round 2 v Knights

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys host the Newcastle Knights at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

1. WELCOME HOME

After beginning the season with an away victory over The Dolphins, the Cowboys return north for their home opener on Saturday. The Cowboys won eight of their 12 games on their home deck last season. A crowd of more than 20,000 is expected at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

2. ON A ROLL

The Cowboys have enjoyed a run of recent success against the Knights. Stretching back to 2015, North Queensland have 11 of the previous 14 encounters, including an 18-16 triumph in Round 8 last season. The Cowboys and Knights are locked at 22 wins apiece in the overall match-up.

3. STICKING STRONG

A luxury Todd Payten rarely had in 2023, the Cowboys Head Coach has named an unchanged 22-man squad to face the Knights. Heilum Luki and Griffin Neame passed game day HIA’s on Sunday and will take their place against the Knights.

4. HISTORY AT HOME?

Kyle Feldt edged closer to breaking the all-time Cowboys try-scoring record in Round 1. Entering the season, Feldt needed two tries to tie and three to break the long-standing record of 130 held by Cowboys legend Matt Bowen. Feldt scored one and had another disallowed on Sunday.

Acknowledgement of Country
