The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to two-year contracts with exciting Raftstrand-Smith sisters Tiana and Ebony.
Tiana came through the Australian Rugby Sevens program before transitioning to rugby league.
The 19-year-old won the Tahnee Norris Medal at the 2021 Under 19s National Championships before making her NRLW debut for the Gold Coast Titans in the delayed 2021 NRLW season.
Tiana has appeared in 11 NRLW games over the course of two seasons for the Titans.
A talented lock, Tiana secured a State of Origin debut for Queensland as an 18-year-old in 2021 and held her spot for the 2022 series. She also represented the Maori All Stars in the 2022 fixture against the Indigenous All Stars.
Younger sister Ebony comes to the Cowboys on a development contract for 2023 before graduating to the top squad in 2024.
An exciting outside back, Ebony represented both the Queensland and Australian Schoolgirls sides while attending Keebra Park State High School.
She will be searching for an NRLW debut in 2023.
“Both Tiana and Ebony are extremely talented and we’re thrilled to have them both at the Cowboys for at least the next two seasons,” Cowboys NRLW Head Coach Ben Jeffries said.
“Tiana has an impressive resume despite not yet turning 20 and she has a very bright future in the game.
“Ebony loves to carry strongly in attack, but equally enjoys the physicality in defence, which is why we have earmarked her as a future Cowboy.”
