The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys NRLW side have secured the services of English fullback Fran Goldthorp on a two-year contract running through the end of the 2024 season.
Despite only turning 20 in January, Goldthorp has already appeared in eight Tests for England and won two Women’s Super League premierships with the Leeds Rhinos.

A product of Leeds in the north of England, Goldthorp has compiled a lethal try-scoring record since making her top-level debut in 2019. She has scored 45 tries in 44 games for Leeds and seven times in eight Tests for England.
A multi-sport athlete, Goldthorp played high-level cricket as a junior and also plays in the top-tier English Women’s Rugby Union competition with the Loughborough Lightning and was recently selected for the England Under 20s team.
Goldthorp made her Super League debut for Leeds at the age of 16 in 2019, won premierships with Leeds in 2019 and 2022 and was nominated for the Woman of Steel award in 2021.
“Fran is a dual international who will bring experience and composure to our spine alongside Kirra Dibb and Emma Manzelmann,” Cowboys NRLW Head Coach Ben Jeffries said.
“Watching Fran throughout the World Cup last year, she was one of England’s standout players, who is very dynamic and loves to have the ball in her hand.
“As a club we’re very excited to see Fran flourish under our roof for the next 2 seasons here in North QLD and like all elite players, she is very much looking forward to testing herself against the best in the world’s elite women’s rugby league competition.”
