North Queensland Toyota Cowboys co-captain Jason Taumalolo will have surgery on a knee cartilage injury on Thursday.
Taumalolo suffered the injury earlier in the season, but after consultation with club medical staff it was decided the injury had reached the point where surgery was required.
The 29-year-old is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.
