The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Women’s Academy is set to take on the Mackay Cutters BMD Premiership side in a pre-season trial on Saturday at Whitsunday Sports Park in Airlie Beach.
The side is made up of the top under 19s female players from Rockhampton through to Far North Queensland.
Prop Lillian Yarrow has been named to captain the side. The Rockhampton product was a 2022 Australian Schoolgirl and appears set for a major role for the CQ Capras under 19s in 2023 with the expectation of a progression to the BMD Premiership later in the season.
Five-eighth Libby Surha represented the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII prior to the 2022 World Cup. The 18-year-old has the ability to play a number of positions and is expected to spend time at second row and lock on Saturday.
Cairns product Montana Mook was a member of the Queensland under 19s side last season as an 18-year-old. The second-rower will begin the 2023 season with the Northern Pride under 19s.
Kick off is at 2.30pm, which will be followed by a Cowboys Young Guns clash with the Mackay Cutters Queensland Cup outfit.
