The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to a two-year contract extension with hooker Reece Robson – running through the end of the 2025 season.
Robson entered the top echelon of dummy-halves in the NRL over the previous two seasons, culminating in his selection in the extended NSW squad for the 2022 series decider.
The 24-year-old set a club record with a colossal 1101 total tackles in 26 games in 2022, becoming just the second Cowboy, alongside Dallas Johnson, to break the 1000-tackle barrier. He also crossed for a career-high seven tries and assisted on a further eight.
Robson achieved his long-harboured goal of becoming an 80-minute player in 2022, playing full games in all but two appearances from Round 6 onwards, including an epic 93-minute, 59-tackle performance in the week one finals victory over the Sharks.
In three seasons in North Queensland, Robson has appeared in 64 games.
“Reece has developed into a cornerstone of our team,” Cowboys General Manager of Football Micheal Luck said.
“He brings enthusiasm and intensity every day at training and we believe he is one of the best hookers in the game currently.
“With Reece agreeing to stay for another two seasons we have our entire spine locked up until at least the end of the 2024 season.
“We are really excited to see how Reece continues to develop over the next three seasons.”
