Jeremiah Nanai has added another accolade to his already historic 2022 season.
The 19-year-old was named North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Rookie of the Year at the Cowboys Presentation Night at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre.
Nanai was eligible for the award due to appearing in less than five games (4) in 2021.
A product of the Cowboys Cairns Academy, Nanai broke the club’s single season try scoring record for a forward in just 19 games. The gifted second-rower finished with an astounding 17 tries, six more than any other forward in the NRL.
Nanai’s ability to adapt to the rigours of the NRL has been extraordinary. In 21 appearances this season, Nanai played the entire 80 minutes 16 times. He averaged 97 running metres and 29 tackles throughout the season.
The Cairns Kangaroos junior played all three games for Queensland in the State of Origin series and was one of the best on the park in the Maroons sensational Game 3 victory.
