Prizes announced as students Try for 5!

Pencils are down for the school break but the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Try for 5! program team are hard at work tallying attendance and planning for an exciting term 4!

Program schools have just one term left to compete for the title of 2021 Try for 5! Challenge winners by continuing to improve their school attendance, with Cowboys prizes and ambassador visits scheduled to encourage students and families.

Each school receives a special family prize each term to incentivise daily attendance – winners from term 3 will now be enjoying their Cowboys supporters pack, including a signed jersey from Jason Taumalolo, while an amazing trampoline prize is on the line for term 4!

Congratulations to Anthony from Year 4 who has won this term's major attendance prize ....a North Queensland Toyota...

The Try for 5! program is being delivered to 15 schools across North Queensland in 2021 with the support of the Australian Government, Queensland Government, Aon and Regional Express (REX), working together to promote better education outcomes through improved school attendance.

Program ambassador Matt Bowen travelled to Townview State School in Mt Isa at the end of term 3 to visit students and meet parents, one of many Try for 5! visits made throughout the school-year by the Cowboys.

During his trip, the Cowboys legend spent time playing outdoor games and activities with the students, and also had the opportunity to visit Sunset State School.

He said competition is heating up between schools to win their respective challenges, while individual students are encouraging one another to turn up and win some fantastic prizes.

Today was the term 3 #Tryfor5 attendance draw! All students with attendance of 95% or better went into the draw!...

"Students were really excited to get their hands on some Cowboys merchandise after a successful term 3, however their attention has quickly turned to the term 4 prizes on offer," Matt said.

"Each school now has a fantastic trampoline to award to one of their students for setting an example for the rest of their school with their attendance.

For me, one of the great parts of this program is having the chance to connect with parents and the wider community, just like we did in Mt Isa, so that getting kids to school becomes everyone's business.
