North Queensland Toyota Cowboys contracted players Ragarive Wavik, Thomas Duffy and Luke Jack have been named in the 2021 Australian Schoolboys Merit team.
Duffy, a student at Ignatius Park College, led the Mal Meninga Cup in 2021 with 84 points from six appearances for the Townsville Blackhawks.
The 18-year-old half, who will join the Cowboys Young Guns program alongside Jack in 2022, scored 26 points on two occasions this year, including a hat-trick, three try assist and seven goal performance against the Northern Pride in Round 6.
Wavik, 18, scored seven tries and made 39 tackle breaks in six games for the Blackhawks in the MMC competition this year.
The fullback, who helped Kirwan State High to last year’s state title, will join the Cowboys for pre-season training in 2022.
Jack, an 18-year-old middle forward from Ayr, averaged 110 metres and 49 post-contact metres for Townsville in this season’s MMC.
The Ignatius Park student captained the Blackhawks to a perfect 4-0 regular season and a MMC grand final appearence against the Tweed Heads Seagulls in May.
