The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to a contract extension with premiership-winning hooker Jake Granville.
Granville’s extension includes a one-year deal for 2022 and a club option for the 2023 season.
The 32-year-old has appeared in 157 NRL games, including 147 for North Queensland, over the course of nine seasons.
Granville joined the Cowboys in 2015 and played all 28 games in the club’s maiden premiership campaign that season.
He was also an integral part of the Cowboys fairytale run to the 2017 grand final.
Granville is currently the 16th most capped player in club history and is set to pass club legends Josh Hannay (150) and Ty Williams (151) in the coming weeks.
“We’re delighted to be able to continue our association with Jake, he has been a wonderful contributor since he arrived in 2015,” Cowboys Head of Football Micheal Luck said.
“We want to build our club around people who are prepared to work hard and buy into what Todd and our coaching staff are trying to achieve and Jake is a terrific example of that.
“The combination he has built up with Reece Robson has been extremely beneficial to our squad as we have begun to turn results around, but he has also shown value in his versatility. While Jake is a hooker by trade, he can certainly hold his gloves up when asked to play in other positions.
“Everyone at this club loves Jake and we’re thrilled he has agreed to stick around for at least another season.”
