The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have today announced half Tom Dearden will join the club with immediate effect.
Dearden had originally signed with the Cowboys on a three-year deal beginning in 2022, but was able to secure an early release from his former club.
The 20-year-old grew up in Mackay and came through the Cowboys Academy Program before relocating to the Gold Coast to attend Palm Beach Currumbin State High School.
Dearden has appeared in 22 NRL games over the course of three seasons with the Brisbane Broncos following his debut in 2019.
He will arrive in North Queensland next week and will be available for selection in the Cowboys’ Round 14 clash against Manly.
“We are thrilled the opportunity arose to accelerate Tom’s arrival in North Queensland,” Cowboys Head of Football Micheal Luck said.
“The prospect of adding someone with Tom’s talent and enthusiasm to our team mid-season is exciting for our club.
“We believe he will be a tremendous asset for the North Queensland Cowboys for the remainder of 2021 and beyond.”
