Tully product Romy Teitzel has been named North Queensland Toyota Gold Stars captain for the 2021 QRLW season.
The 22-year-old fullback, who made her NRLW debut with the Brisbane Broncos in October last year, will take the reigns from the 2015 female Dally M Player of the Year Jenni Sue-Hoepper.

Teitzel already has a strong connection to the club, with her father Craig having played 12 games for the Cowboys in their inaugural season in 1995.
“Having family history at this club makes it that extra little bit special to me,” Teitzel said.
“Jenni was a senior player in our team, so there is definitely a massive gap which needs filling.
“I didn’t think this opportunity would come so soon, but I am honoured to be able to captain these girls.”
Gold Stars head coach Gavin Lloyd said Teitzel’s leadership skills and work ethic made it an obvious choice.
“Romy is a really good talker at training and during games,” Lloyd said.
“She is a great leader on the field and I think the girls really look up to her, so it was a pretty easy decision.”
The Gold Stars play their one and only trial against the Central Queensland Capras this Saturday in Mackay, before opening their QRLW season against Valleys Diehards in Cairns on April 10.
