North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Interim Head Coach Josh Hannay will depart the club at the end of the 2020 season.
Hannay, who appeared in 150 games as a player for the Cowboys, returned to the club as an assistant coach prior to the 2017 season. He was named Interim Head Coach following Paul Green’s departure in Round 10 of this season.
“I’ve come to the decision, mutually with the club, to move on,” Hannay said.
“I’m going to take my time with my decision on what to do next, but I’ll make sure the decision I do make is the right one for my family and I and not just a short-term fix.
“I certainly won’t leave this club bitter because I only want good things for this place and that won’t change.”
Cowboys Director of Football Peter Parr paid tribute to Hannay’s contributions to the Cowboys over more than two decades.
“Josh has been a major contributor at this club both as a player and a coach,” Parr said.
“He has played a major role in the development of our younger players and moving forward as this team develops into the team we believe it’s capable of becoming, Josh’s fingerprints will be all over that.
“We wish Josh nothing but success with whatever he decides to do next and he will always be welcome at our club.”
