Cowboys team list: Round 19 v Penrith

Departing North Queensland Toyota Cowboys life member Gavin Cooper has been named to start in the second row for his final home game as a Cowboy on Friday night against Penrith at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

The 35-year-old announced on Monday he will depart the Cowboys following the 2020 season.

The Panthers clash will be Cooper’s 246th in Cowboys colours, which equals fellow club legend Scott Bolton for the fourth-most in club history.

While one Cowboy career is coming to end, another is just beginning, with Ben Condon named to make his NRL debut.

The 20-year-old forward has been named on the interchange by Interim Head Coach Josh Hannay alongside fellow rookies Daejarn Asi, Emry Pere and Tom Gilbert.

Standing at a towering 196cm and weighing 110kg, Condon is able to play as either a middle or edge forward.

Murray Taulagi has been recalled at centre for his first appearance in the top grade since Round 12.

Corey Jensen has been elevated to the starting side for the first time in more than two years, starting at prop with Francis Molo moving to lock to replace the suspended Josh McGuire.

Jason Taumalolo is an outside chance of returning from a calf injury after being named on the reserves.

Friday’s game kicks off at 6pm.
