The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to a three-year contract with Kiwi international Esan Marsters which will run through the 2022 season.
The 23-year-old last week secured a release from the final year of his contract at the Wests Tigers and will join the Cowboys in November.
Born in Auckland, Marsters has played 61 NRL games since making his debut in 2017 and has appeared in six Tests for New Zealand and one for the Cook Islands.
A skilful centre, Marsters scored nine tries in 2019 and averaged three tackle breaks, two offloads, 113 running metres and 11 tackles across 24 appearances.
“Esan is a high-quality centre, he’s an international and we believe he is one of the more dangerous outside backs in the NRL,” Cowboys Director of Football Peter Parr said.
“The outside backs is an area we have been looking to increase our depth and we believe Esan is going to be a quality signing for our squad for 2020 and beyond.
“He’s only 23, so his best football is still in front of him, which is exciting considering what he has already achieved in his career.”
