Matt Scott is among the top 10 elite Australian athletes vying for the Sports Dad of the Year award to be announced on Father's Day on Sunday, September 1.
The award showcases the contribution Australia's sporting elite make to their families both on and off the field, with the winner announced on Father's Day.
One of the greatest players in Cowboys history, Scott has played his entire career at the club after debuting as an 18-year-old in 2004.
After recently announcing his retirement Matt said he's looking forward to spending more time with wife Lauren and their two boys.
“They are a huge inspiration,” Matt said of his boys Hugo (4) and Will (2).
"Initially I will love the extra time with the family."
"No doubt work life after football will kick in soon but I will be able to enjoy weekends and holidays much more, I just love being a dad.”
Supporters can vote for Matt to become Sports Dad of the Year before Tuesday 27 August.
All voters have the opportunity to win special prizes for their own father this Father's Day, with the Philips Sports Dad of the Year receiving $5,000 to donate to their charity of choice.
Our own Johnathan Thurston won last year and donated his winnings to the Mark Hughes Foundation.
