Rugby league is a funny game. One week you're flying high and the next you're crashing back to reality.
Round one seems like a long time ago. The Cowboys' first hit-out of the season – we were finally able to leave the off-season behind and play football. It was a win against the St George Illawarra Dragons and our boys looked sharp in that victory.
There is no doubt it has been a tough start to the season for the team and the Cowboys faithful.
I live in Sydney and try to get to as many games as I can, and I'm always heartened to see fans in our jersey at Sydney games.
The support Sydney fans can provide when the team is away from home should not be underestimated. Especially when times are tough.
For the players to hear the cheers from the crowd and see the Cowboys flags waving, I hope lets them know that they're not alone on the field.
So, if you're an away fan and you live in Sydney, make sure you get to as many games as you can!
There is always a Cowboys supporters bay and that's where you'll find us. We may be small in number, but we have big voices – we would love you to lend yours as well!
Everyone there has their own ‘Cowboys story’ – they've moved down from the 'Ville, they were converted by JT or they support the Cowboys ‘for the spirit in which they play the game’. Or, if you're like me, you once watched Matty Bowen play and were hooked from that moment on!
The last Sydney game I went to was the Bulldogs game at ANZ Stadium last week for ANZAC Round.
While the game didn't go to plan, I had a great night with some work friends who waved Cowboys flags with me and helped me support my team.
The next time we face the Bulldogs will be in Round 24. This will be our final home game at 1300SMILES Stadium, and it's fitting that we should be playing them, as the very first team our original Cowboys played against at that stadium, back in 1995.
But before then, we have a lot of unfinished business to attend to. We're not the sort of team who gives up, so we look forward to each new week and a new opportunity to play some great football.
We defied all odds in 2017 and made the top 8, which no one said we could do. And then despite the odds, we won every match on the way to the Grand Final.
Tonight we play at home and face the Gold Coast Titans, and our boys head into this game with an overall home win rate against the Titans of 62%. Figures are fun on paper.
They say a premiership is not won in March.
Every week in rugby league is a new opportunity to create some magic; every team has the chance to rebuild, to regroup and to dazzle their fans.
There is always a magnificent try or an unbelievable line break just around the corner. New stars make their debuts and favourites suit up again after overcoming injury. Every week brings something different and exciting.
As Cowboys members and fans we can be excited for the new week ahead, the next round and the prospect of an upcoming win.
We will make it out of the tough times if we stick together.
After all, we come for rugby league, but we stay for the Cowboys.
