Dami Im performing at Cowboys season opener

Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumental performing artist Dami Im will headline ‘Together for North Queensland’, the Toyota Cowboys’ season-opening match on Saturday 16 March, dedicated to raising spirits in the region after the historic floods.

Im will perform a 30-minute post-match concert at 1300SMILES Stadium, with members and fans invited on to the field to enjoy first-class entertainment from the Sony Music Australia artist and Australian Eurovision Song Contest representative (2016).

The Round 1 NRL Telstra Premiership match featuring the Cowboys and St George Illawarra Dragons will be an opportunity for the North Queensland community to come together to continue the goodwill and fundraising to help the region back on its feet.

Cowboys CEO Jeff Reibel paid tribute to the North Queensland community for their mateship and endurance during tough times.

“This has been a difficult time for many in our community, and for some their recovery from the February floods is only just beginning,” Mr Reibel said.

“We saw first-hand the community spirit shown in the face of adversity for friends, neighbours and fellow North Queenslanders, and we thank everyone for their continued care and commitment – it’s these qualities that help make this region such a great place to live.

“We’re putting the call out for North Queenslanders to keep this feeling strong and join us at our first Cowboys game of the season for a fantastic night of rugby league and entertainment, and to dig deep where you can to help those on hard times.”

GIVIT donation collectors will be located at the gates to assist in fundraising efforts for flood victims in Townsville and north-west Queensland.

The National Rugby League will also generously donate $100 for every point scored across eight matches in Round 1 to the North Queensland Flood Appeal, through St Vincent De Paul Society.

Members and fans will also have the opportunity to bid for match memorabilia in an online auction, with all proceeds going to GIVIT for the Townsville and north-west Queensland flood appeal.

The pre-game show will feature on-field interviews and tributes, while families can take advantage of free kids’ amusements and enjoy the fireworks show and a huge range of activations around the grounds.

In advance of her match-day performance, ARIA chart-topper Dami Im said she had been inspired by the resilience of the local community.

“I have been so touched by the recent events in North Queensland. I’ve always loved my time in Townsville and am so honoured to be able to play a small part in bringing a bit of joy back to a deeply deserving community,” Ms Im said.
