It took just one season for Johnathan Thurston, Matthew Bowen and Aaron Payne to emerge as one of the most dangerous combinations in the NRL. The trio destroyed arch-rivals Brisbane in the opening match of the 2006 season, with JT scoring his first hat-trick in the top grade and kicking six goals for a 24-point haul. Cowboys won 36-4.
