NRL Cowboys House has emerged as the true winner from the NRL Grand Final weekend, after Townsville Airport pledged more than $10,000 in passenger landing charges to the cause from additional services put on for locals to travel to the game.
Queensland Airports Limited CEO Chris Mills said this donation allowed the airport to give back to the Cowboys and local community alike.
“Additional flights are always good news for an airport, and we really have the local community and the Cowboys to thank for that over the grand final weekend,” he said.
“We wanted to show our support and thought what better way to do this than to donate landing fees generated by the additional finals flights to NRL Cowboys House.”
North Queensland Toyota Cowboys CEO Greg Tonner appreciates and values local partners such as Townsville Airport in supporting the Cowboys Community Foundation and NRL Cowboys House.
“This donation will assist us in supporting young Indigenous students from some of the most remote communities in North Queensland to access quality education opportunities here in Townsville,” Mr Tonner said.

Townsville Airport Chief Operating Officer Kevin Gill said there was no mistaking you were in Cowboys country if you travelled around finals time.
“There really is nothing like Cowboys spirit, and you only have to witness one Cowboys welcome or farewell at the airport, to know you’re in Cowboys country,” he said.
“Throughout the season, thousands of supporters flocked to the airport to show their support for their local heroes, and we were extremely proud to be a part of that.”
