A thousand North Queensland Toyota Cowboys 2017 members left the club's annual Community Day on Saturday sporting a special gift, as a thank you for being part of the ‘team behind the team’.
The membership gift pack was filled with various Cowboys goodies, including members-only posters of Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott and Michael Morgan, players' autograph book and a water bottle kindly supplied by Cowboys membership partner Shine Lawyers.
Cowboys Home Star member Jane Edwards waited for an hour before doors opened at the season’s first fan event with her grandchildren, Zack and Chloe Hughes, who had travelled all the way from Darwin to be part of the fun and receive their special gift.
“The kids were meant to fly home earlier, but when we heard the event was on we rescheduled their flights, they didn’t want to miss it,” Ms Edwards said.
“Zack has been a member for two years. Receiving the membership gift pack was just an added bonus for being a member. We really just joined as members to back our team, but we really appreciate these little extras.
“Because the kids are from the Northern Territory, I try to collect as much Cowboys gear as I can to send to them. Even as an adult I collect it all, especially the game day cards, flags and balls which my husband and I take to Papua New Guinea to give to the kids there – they just love it.”

Cowboys’ general manager – consumer business Amanda Skinner said that the member gift packs were just one way the club could show its appreciation to members for their support.
“Members really are the lifeblood of our club, and their unwavering support means the world to our players. We wouldn’t be the community club we are without our strong member base,” Ms Skinner said.
Single-game tickets for the 2017 season go on pre-sale for members from Thursday 9 February through Ticketek (online, call centre and agencies), with members able to purchase an additional four tickets per game with their 10% members' discount.
