The NRL and QRL today officially opened a new headquarters in Queensland, with Rugby League Central, Queensland situated opposite Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

The office will be home to more than 100 NRL, QRL, Men of League and Touch Football staff, with the space including historical and interactive displays, function areas and a media centre.

Australian Rugby League Commission chairman John Grant joined Queensland Rugby League chairman Peter Betros, together with NRL and QRL commission and executives, to officially open the building a day after another memorable State of Origin clash in Brisbane.

“This is a significant moment in our history in Queensland as we open a building with additional staff, space and opportunity for the growth of our game throughout the state,” Mr Grant said.

“Queensland is fundamental to our success as a game overall. Tens of thousands of Queenslanders tune in or watch our games live every week and our three Queensland teams each have more than 10,000 members and growing.”

Queensland Rugby League chairman Peter Betros echoed Mr Grant’s sentiment and thanked the NRL for their support in funding the new office.

“There is no doubt that Queensland will continue to play a significant role in growing the game of rugby league and in order to support this growth, we need the facilities to support our staff and our fans,” Mr Betros said.

“Rugby League Central, Queensland will be our base for many years to come and we will ensure that our history is remembered and reflected as we grow the game for the future.”
