The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys can today announce the re-signing of 2015 Premiership winger Kyle Feldt to the club for a further three seasons.
Townsville junior Feldt, 25, has signed a contract extension that will see him remain at the Cowboys until the end of the 2020 National Rugby League season.
“I’m thrilled to be able to remain at the club that handed me my NRL debut,” said Feldt, who has played 56 games for the club over five seasons.
“I’ve had so many great memories here already and played alongside some amazing players, so to be able to continue that journey in the city I grew up is a real blessing.”
“I look forward to performing well for the rest of the 2017 season and helping the club to further success.”
Cowboys General Manager – Football Peter Parr said Feldt has been a fine example of the club’s development pathways at work.
“Kyle has come up through the grades, through our Under-20s system – where he played in a grand final – on to Queensland Cup with the Northern Pride and the Townsville Blackhawks, and now he’s an integral part of our NRL team,” Parr said.
“The club places tremendous stock in nurturing and retaining talent, and with Kyle, you couldn’t get a better example of this.”
At 191cm tall and 105kg, Feldt is a powerful ball runner and classy finisher, the one-time Junior Kangaroo making his NRL debut in Round 21, 2013 versus South Sydney.
He has gone on to score 34 tries in 56 games, including that famous four-pointer in the 2015 grand final.
Aside from Junior Kangaroos honours in 2011, Feldt was also in the NYC Team of the Year. In 2015, Feldt was selected in the Queensland Residents team.
He was also part of the Queensland Cup-winning Northern Pride team in 2014 and was last year invited into Queensland’s State of Origin camp for game 1 of the series.
