Tanner and Bella promoted to top squad

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to Development Contracts with Emily Bella and Caitlin Tanner for the 2024 NRLW season.

Born and bred in Mackay, Bella rose through the North Queensland Women’s Pathways before making her BMD Premiership debut in 2022.

A talented halfback, Bella was selected in the Queensland Under 19s in 2023.

The 19-year-old has appeared in all seven games for the BMD Premiership-leading Mackay Cutters this season, coming off the bench as a utility.

A fellow half, Tanner was born in Bundaberg and played her junior football in Rockhampton.

The 18-year-old made her BMD Premiership debut for Wynnum Manly in Round 3 and scored her first try after starting the game at hooker in Round 7.

Tanner was named in the 2024 Queensland Under 19s Emerging Squad earlier this week.

“Emily and Caitlin are two of the most exciting halves prospects in Queensland and we’re thrilled to have them as part of our full-time squad for 2024,” Cowboys Head of NRLW & Women’s Elite Pathways Anita Creenaune said.

“Both have the ability to play multiple positions, which adds significantly to the depth of our roster.

“We believe both ladies have bright futures in the game and look forward to the contributions they will make to our club, both on and off the field.”
